Miguel Angel Lopez (Movistar) has taken the victory of the Mont Ventoux Denivele Challenges.

The third edition of the 1.1 race was 155 kilometres long and 4500 vertical metres, starting at the Vaison-la-Romaine. The peloton had to face two ascents of the Mont Ventoux just a month before they have to face it in the Tour de France, and the Colombian rider made a move with 12 kilometres to go and crossed the finish line on his own.

"I'm very happy to have won this race, it gives me a lot of confidence," said Lopez. "My team worked really hard for me today. We came in force because we know that one of the stages of the Tour will be similar. We did the first ascent at a good pace.

"At the start of the second, my teammates drove hard to exhaust our opponents. I was then able to launch my attack. I was strong enough to finish the job and go on my own to victory. With luck, at the Tour de France, our bodies will remember this day."
