Jakob Fuglsang is set to lead Astana-Premier Tech in the Tour de Suisse after being absent from the race since 2018.

The Dane finished in the second overall position in 2018 and now he will return aiming for another good result. "After my result in 2018, it is nice to return to the Tour de Suisse, a race I have good memories from," said Fuglsang. "I finished second overall in 2018 and it would be great to repeat it with another podium spot and maybe a stage win."

The rider will be at the start line of the race after finishing and altitude training camp in Tenerife, Spain, which was the final preparation for the upcoming French Grand Tour. "I have been in Teide and had a good altitude camp with our Tour de France line up and I'm feeling good after some weeks of intense training sessions," said the winner of the 2020 Il Lombardia.

"The eight-stage race will kick off my second part of the season and I hope to put in a good performance. We will see how my legs are coming from a race break and altitude camp."

Astana-Premier Tech's line-up for the Tour de Suisse (June 6-13):

Manuele Boaro (ITA)
Stefan De Bod (RSA)
Omar Fraile (ESP)
Jakob Fuglsang (DEN)
Yevgeniy Gidich (KAZ)
