Dylan van Baarle (Ineos-Grenadiers) has taken the victory of Dwars door Vlaanderen after a 50-kilometre solo effort.

The 184.1-kilometre race took the riders between Roeselare and Waregem over a route that featured several climbs and cobblestone sectors. There were several escapes in the first part of the race by riders like Tosh Van Der Sande, Ethan Hayter, Alexander Kristoff, Mathieu van der Poel and Rui Oliveira, among others, but every time the peloton managed to bring them back.

With 50 kilometres to go, and as a small group managed to escape from the pack -that included Tim Wellens, Kristoff, Dylan van Baarle and Nils Politt- the Dutchman of Ineos-Grenadiers launched an attack and wasn't followed by any of the others. Behind him, riders like Greg Van Avermaet, Florian Senechal and Dylan Teuns pulled from the small group to try to catch him, while favourites like Julian Alaphilippe and Van der Poel remained behind.

Van Baarle did an outstanding work to stay ahead from the rest and despite the efforts of the chasers and the peloton, he crossed the finish line by himself. Christophe Laporte, Tim Merlier, Yves Lampaert and Van der Sande completed the top five of the Belgian race.
