The UAE Tour has presented the list of provisional riders that are set to be at its start line on the 21st of February.

The first WorldTour race of the calendar is approaching and it is already known the names of some riders that will take part on it. The defender of the 2020 title Adam Yates will wear the colours of his new team Ineos Grenadiers, but he won't have it easy as the winner of the 2020 Tour de France Tadej Pogacar will also be there.

Other riders to watch for the General Classification include Chris Froome -who will appear for the first time in his Israel Start-Up Nation colours, Vincenzo Nibali (Trek-Segafredo), Rigoberto Urán (EF Education-Nippo) and former World Champion Alejandro Valverde (Movistar).

But there are other cyclists that could also surprise on the climbs where the General Classification will be decided like Jumbo-Visma's Sepp Kuss, Deceuninck-Quick-Step's Joao Almeida, UAE Team Emirates' Rafal Majka, Astana-Premier Tech's Alexey Lutsenko, Bahrain-Victorious' Wout Poels and Damiano Caruso and Bora-hansgrohe's Patrick Konrad and Emmanuel Buchmann, among others.

The fight for the Green Jersey will also be one to watch as some of the best sprinters of the moment will be competing at the fast stages. Caleb Ewan (Lotto Soudal), Sam Bennett (Deceuninck-Quick-Step), Pascal Ackermann (Bora-hansgrohe), Fernando Gaviria (UAE Team Emirates), Elia Viviani (Cofidis), Giacomo Nizzolo (Qhubeka Assos), Luka Mezgec (BikeExchange) and Andre Greipel (Israel Start-Up Nation) will be stars of those days.

And the race will also have three young talents that have been shining in the latest seasons: World time trial champion Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers), who will be at the race for the first time after enjoying a 2020 in which he won four stages at the Giro d'Italia, and he will be targetting the time trial.

Marc Hirschi (UAE Team Emirates) will also ride the race for the first time after a season in which he showed himself in the Tour de France -where he won one stage- and finished in the third position of the road race at the World Championships of Imola. And joining them will be Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin Fenix), who recently won the rainbow jersey at the cyclocross World Championships for the fourth time.

The UAE Tour will be opening the WorldTour calendar of 2021 and will take place between the 21st and the 27th of February.
