Bahrain Victorious' Phil Bauhaus has taken the victory of the last stage at the Tour de la Provence.

The last stage of the French race took the riders through a 163.2-kilometre route with a start in Avignon. The escape of the day was caught with two kilometres remaining, and as the sprint trains were already working for their main men.

Bauhaus finished the good work of his team and particularly of Heinrich Haussler -who protected him and took him well into the last kilometre- and the German crossed the finish line just ahead of the winner of two stages of the race Davide Ballerini (Deceuninck-Quick-Step) and Arkea-Samsic's Nacer Bouhanni.

"It was a super-fast final, and the team did really really well today and wanted this result really really bad," said Bauhaus at the end of the stage. "I went for it, and I’m happy I could pass the guys at the front.

"I knew I needed to be in front with 600 meters to go, and then I was strong enough to finish it off. It’s always good as a sprinter to win races. But I’m also happy for the team. It takes some pressure off us now we have that win. It gives us confidence for the next races."
