Astana and the women's team are set to part ways from 2021 and the latest victories of Yareli Salazar on the track are the last ones of the project.
After six years of the Kazakh sports group and the Italian team forming a successful project it is time for their way to separate. From January 1, 2021, the team will continue its international activity for its 26th consecutive season with a different name.
In these six years, Astana Women's team achieved 48 victories in UCI races of the calendar and in four different continents. The last ones were the ones of Yareli Salazar in the Mexican Track Championships, which set her on a good path ahead of the Olympic Games of Tokyo next summer.
"In all these years it was a source of great pride for us to bring a prestigious name like Astana around the world: they were six very intense seasons, sometimes full of difficulties but that however brought us great satisfactions," said the leader of the team Maurizio Fabretto. "I must admit, we are a little sorry to close this partnership at the end of such a complicated and particular season, but above all without being able to reach goals and objectives even higher than those we have achieved: for our part, however, we are aware that we have done the maximum possible, we have no regrets and we are happy that the circle has been closed with these victories in Mexico.
"Now we have to look forward because we are ready to embark on an even more ambitious adventure and we are more motivated than ever!"
