Remco Evenepoel is set to be part of Deceuninck-Quick-Step's roster for Il Lombardia, the first Monument he will ever ride.

The Monument is normally the last one of the calendar but with the changes it has had to suffer due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it will be now on the 15th of August. The race will be just as hard as always with climbs that include de Colle Gallo, the Colle Brianza, the Madonna del Ghisallo and the Colma di Sormano.

Just after winning all the races he has started on the season -the Vuelta a San Juan, the Volta ao Algarve, the Vuelta a Burgos, and the Tour de Pologne- Evenepoel will have his Monument debut at the Italian race.

"We come with a lot of motivation at the start, despite having many young riders on the roster," said Deceuninck-Quick-Step sports director Davide Bramati. "The parcours is more or less the same, only the weather will be different this year, with the temperatures expected to hit 30 degrees Celsius. Of course, we hope to get a good result, but we can't say that we are favourites, as many of the guys on the team will be making their debut in a Monument."
