Deceuninck-Quick-Step has taken its last victory in a row at the Vuelta a Burgos, this time with Sam Bennett.

The riders went through a 163 kilometres long stage on the fourth day of competition in Burgos between Bodegas Nabal and Roa de Duero over a completely flat route that was suitable for the fast men. Five men formed the escape of the day, including Willie Smit (Burgos-BH) and Damiano Cima (Gazprom-Rusvelo).

The last of the escapees was neutralised with 11 kilometres to go. There was a small crash in the pack with five kilometres to go that affected riders like Francisco Galavan and David de la Cruz, but it wasn't serious.

Teams like Groupama-FDJ, Bora-hansgrohe and Deceuninck-Quick-Step took the head of the pack in the last two kilometres but just under the Flamme Rouge there was a crash that caused havoc. Irish national champion Sam Bennett took advantage of the chaos behind him and did a last kilometre acceleration that allowed him to cross the finish line by himself.

Arnaud Demare (Groupama-FDJ) and Giacomo Nizzolo (NTT Pro Cycling) completed the top five of the day. Remco Evenepoel (Deceuninck-Quick-Step) retains the lead of the General Classification.
