Bora-hansgrohe's Pascal Ackermann has taken the victory in the final sprint of the second stage at the Sibiu Tour.

The Romanian race keeps being successful for the German team as Ackermann was the strongest rider at the finish line and Patrick Konrad managed to retain the lead of the General Classification. The German sprinter crossed the finish line ahead of Rudy Barbier (Israel Start-Up Nation), Riccardo Stacchiotti (Vini Zabu-KTM), Eduard-Michael Grosu (Nippo Delko Provence One) and Adam Toupalik (Elkov-Kasper).

"I'm really happy to return to racing with a victory," said Ackermann. "However, not everything went according to plan on today's stage. My lead-out man Rudi Selig crashed 25 km ahead of the finish, and then Patrick Konrad had a flat tire on the last climb. Yet despite this bad luck, we were able to regroup and take the stage win.

"The sprint was incredibly hectic, with not many of the teams having leadouts. It wasn't immediately clear which wheel I should take, and in the end I decided to jump behind Grosu's rear wheel. 300m before the finish, I just launched my sprint and it worked out perfectly."
