TIBCO Silicon Valley Bank's Leah Dixon has taken the win of the second stage at the Skoda V-Women's Tour, which took her to the top of the General Classification of the event.

The second day of the virtual competition -which takes place in the RGT cycling platform- took the riders through a route of 35.4 kilometres that replicates the closing circuit of the 2019 edition of the race, with a hilltop finish at Burton Sassett in Warwickshire. Dixon's teammate Lauren Stephens broke free during the second of the three ascents and soon the Welsh rider bridged to her.

During the last climb, Stephens tried her luck again but her teammate was stronger and took the day's win. Bizkaia Durango's Lizzie Holden crossed the finish line in the third place.

"It was just the perfect race," said Dixon at the end of the race. "We had talked about it on the team call beforehand, me and Lauren had discussed tactics earlier on in the day around what we thought would happen. We thought we could whittle the group down a bit on the first lap, and then depending on who was in the group on the second lap we would try and go hard to reduce the group further.

"Lauren attacked and got a really big gap, and then came over our race radio 'If someone can come across to me, come across now' and I just went all in, got over to her and then we just did some really great teamwork."

The rider also took the lead of the general classification, where she is 22 seconds ahead of her teammate Kristen Faulkner and of Holden. Lizzy Banks (Bigla Katusha) and Illi Gardner (CAMS-Tifosi) complete the overall top five.
