The Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta, the women's race of the Spanish grand tour, will have one additional stage for its 2020 edition.

The women's competition will become a three-day race in 2020 and will be held between the sixth and the eighth of November. This race will close the women's World Tour season and in its fourth edition it wants to become one of the most important of the calendar.

The organization of the Ceratizit Challenge is working on the design of the three stages, although it is already certain that it will finish in the city circuit of Madrid, as it has done since its first edition, and only hours before the last stage of the men's race.

"We are currently living in very uncertain times in every aspect, even in sports," said the Director of the Vuelta Javier Guillen. "This health crisis has affected cycling at every level: men’s, women’s and grassroots cycling alike. With that in mind, we feel it is our responsibility and our obligation to do what we can to help the sport that has given us so much. We believe in this race, and we wish to continue to grow together."

"This is the next logical step for a race that has experienced consistent growth," added Ramiro Bengoechea, General Director of Ceratizit Iberica -main sponsor of the women's race. "At Ceratizit, we have been supporting women’s cycling for years. It would make no sense not to make this extra effort now, when the discipline needs us most."
