Deceuninck-Quick-Step is ready to kick-off the 2020 season in Australia and sprinter Sam Bennett will make there his debut.

The Belgian team will start its 18th season with three Australian races. Two of those events will be Race Torquay, which is a new addition to the UCI calendar, schedule to be held on January 30. The peloton will go ten times through a 13.3-kilometre long rolling circuit in a competition that will favour the sprinters.

Then, Deceuninck-Quick-Step will be at the start like of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race in its sixth edition, which will be held over a 171.1-kilometre long route. The team has won this race in two occasions and this time the riders will face a hillier route with three ascents of the Challambra Crescent.

Bennett will start his adventure with the team in Australia, and he will have the company of other men that also capable of being the mix: João Almeida, Shane Archbold, Mattia Cattaneo, Dries Devenyns, Iljo Keisse, and three-time Danish Champion Michael Morkov.

"We are really looking forward to these two races," said sports director Rik Van Slycke. "Torquay is a new race, but we trained in the past in that area, so it's not like it's unknown to us. On paper, the up-and-down parcours shouldn't be selective, as could very well be the case in the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, where both attackers and sprinters will have a strong chance of fighting for victory.

"We won the latter twice, and in Dries and Sam we have two riders who can cover several scenarios, and that makes us confident we can come out of these appointments with some nice results."
