Trek-Segagredo's Letizia Paternoster has suffered an accident while riding her city-bike in Arco, Italy, that left her with a minor fracture in the wrist.

Although initial reports pointed out at a training accident, Trentino's newspaper L'Adige has confirmed that the rider was hit by a car while she was riding a city-bike, not her road bike. The 20-year-old has the accident at around nine in the morning when a driver hit her in a roundabout.

Paternoster was taken by ambulance straight away to the Arco hospital where the initial tests point at a microfracture of the wrist and some injuries in the area of the mouth that would keep her off the bike for around 30 days. She has already been discharged from the hospital.

The Italian will start in 2020 her second season in Trek-Segafredo -her third year as a professional cyclist. At her young age, the rider has already taken victories in races like the Festival Elsy Jacobs, the GP Della Liberazione PINK and at one stage of the Santos Women's Tour Down Under.
