Annemiek van Vleuten will start her 2020 season training with the men of Mitchelton-Scott and then focus on the Spring Classics.

The World Champion received the trophy of Cyclist of the Year in the Netherlands and there she talked about the upcoming season. Just like the start of 2019, she will join the Yates brothers in a winter camp and then travel to Colombia, when she will finish her training with Esteban Chaves.

"I have been invited again to join the men's camp," said the rider to Dutch broadcaster NOS. "The other women still don't want to come. So from January 4, I will suffer again in the wheel of Adam and Simon Yates.

"Not everyone is as crazy as me, they say. It is also a training volume that you should be able to handle, that is written on my body. Moreover, all the other women will be at the Tour Down Under, I have made a different choice."

Van Vleuten wants to continue her outstanding 2019 season in which she won Strade Bianche, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, the Giro Rosa and the World Championships. "Everyone is talking about the Olympic Games, but as far as I'm concerned, I'm going to focus very much on the spring," she said.

"There will be a lot of great competitions: Strade Bianche, I would really like to win the Tour of Flanders again and the triptych of the Ardennes. The Games are certainly a very important goal, but that switch will only be turned on after the spring."
