On All Saints' Day, the Tour de Pologne has announced that the number 143 that Bjorg Lambrecht was wearing when he died in the 2019 edition of the race, will be retired forever from the competition.

Lambrecht passed away after he suffered a heavy crash during the third stage of the 2019 Tour de Pologne. The investigations showed that the rider hit a side road reflector and lost control of the bike, which ended up with him hitting a concrete column that caused internal bleeding that led to his death.

"We carry the memory of Bjorg Lambrecht every day, but since it’s All Saints’ Day, please light a candle for him, wherever you go today [*] We will," said the organization of the Polish race through a tweet.

"And we officially confirm that number #143 will never be worn again in Tour de Pologne. It’s For Bjorg. We’ll remember you always."

The fourth stage of the race was neutralised after the passing of the rider and Lotto Soudal decided to continue in the race. Days after, hundreds of people attended the funeral of the Belgian in his hometown Knesselare and many races have afterward paid their respects for him.
