Jumbo-Visma's Primoz Roglic has taken the victory at the Giro dell'Emilia by crossing the finish line by himself.

The race was 207.4 kilometres long and took the riders from Bologna to San Luca, in Italy. An escape was formed early on the day and included riders like Davide Ballerini, Umberto Orsini and Jacopo Mosca, who managed to build a gap of more than eleven minutes with the pack.

In the last 50 kilometres, there were several attacks in the peloton from riders like Diego Ulissi and Sepp Kuss, until Pierre Latour and Giulio Ciccone managed to get away and caught the escapees. On the fourth climb of the day, Egan Bernal and Jakob Fuglsang made a move from the pack and as they built a gap, Primoz Roglic decided to go on to catch them along with Vincenzo Nibali and Alejandro Valverde.

On the descent, the favourites' group rejoined in front and Roglic made the last move on the last climb of the day that allowed him to take a solo victory, while EF Education First's Michael Woods and Sergio Higuita crossed the finish line 14 seconds later. Trek-Segafredo's Bauke Mollema and Valverde completed the top five of the day.

The Slovenian rider has taken this win three weeks after he took the overall victory at the Vuelta a España.
