WNT-Rotor's Lisa Brennauer has become the new German national champion. The rider crossed the finish line ahead Lisa Klein and Liane Lippert.

The road race of the German national championships was 103 kilometres long and seven riders managed to arrive together to the final kilometre. The 31-year-old was the fastest of this reduced group and crossed the line just ahead of the German time trial champion Lisa Klein (Canyon-SRAM) and the 2018 champion Liane Lippert.

"I am just speechless," said Brennauer to the media after the podium ceremony. "The final suited me very well, the course was challenging, particularly the last climb before the finish but it also suited me, along with the constant change of speed.

"Thanks to my team, which worked so well for me today. Thanks to Kathrin Hammes, who was so strong in the final. We were a small group and Kathrin rode in front and attacked, that was out plan. I was two or three positions behind her and I was waiting for the right moment, launched the sprint and I quickly realised that it was enough. I had hoped for more than the third place on the time trial on Friday but here and today I got the crowning glory."
