Former professional rider Iñigo Cuesta has presented a new women's team that is known simply as Women Cycling. The rider is the director of the Spanish team and he has great ambitions for it.

Women Cycling is the name of the new women's team that has been born in Spain. Cuesta expects for the team to start participating in international races in 2020 and gather enough points to climb to the WorldTour.

"Women's sports are progressing very fast and it is the moment to launch a very strong team," said the winner of the 1998 Vuelta al Pais Vasco during the presentation of the formation. "The project of Women Cycling is for the next five years and in the first one we hope to have around ten to twelve riders and then increase it."

Cuesta expects to include five or six Spanish riders, who will work with experienced foreigners to gain knowledge in the professional sport. The formation will start as a continental team and will start in diverse kind of races to earn the points that will allow it to make the jump to the WorldTour level.

"It is a viable project and its main target is to accumulate as many points as possible as a team in all the races that we take part in to try to be among the best ten teams in the world and I think we will be able to achieve it," said Cuesta in the launching of the team at the Superior Council of Sports.
