Roompot-Charles' Sean De Bie has been involved in a traffic accident in Italy. Belgian media claim that the rider was hit by a car that was driving in the wrong side of the road.

The 27-year-old had to be taken by helicopter to the Brescia hospital after he was hit by a car during training. "Sean De Bie has been involved in a traffic collision today during a training ride in Italy," said the team in a statement posted in their social media channels. "He was taken to the hospital in Brescia by helicopter. He never lost consciousness.

"Medical examinations are still ongoing. We'll try to give a more detailed update asap."

Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad published that the rider was hit frontally by a vehicle that was riding in the wrong side of the road. The publication also mentions that the rider's injuries include six broken ribs and a cracked sternum, but the team has not confirmed this information.
