Marianne Vos (CCC-Liv) has taken the stage victory on the second day of the ASDA Tour of Yorkshire. With this win, the rider also became the champion of the 2019 edition of the race.

The last stage of the British race was 132 kilometres long between Bridlington and Scarborough over a rolling course that featured five climbs. One of the race favourites, Lizzi Deignan (Trek-Segafredo) was one of the most active riders of the stage, launching strong attacks that managed to make a selection in the peloton.

Movistar's Mavi Garcia also made a strong move just before the last two climbs that allow her to be by herself for a while, but Vos and Ale-Cipollini's Soraya Paladin caught her before the end, forcing a reduced sprint that was won by the Dutchwoman.

"I was nervous coming into the final because I didn’t know what power I had left in my legs after such a hard stage but to finish it off was incredible," said Vos.

"I’m really happy to win here and the crowds in the last few days have been fantastic. Like us, the spectators have braved some bad weather over the last two days but they have always cheered us on. It’s been a very good race."
