Team Virtu Cycling's Marta Bastianelli has taken the victory of the Omloop van het Hageland. The European champion was the fastest at the final sprint.

The one-day race was 132.2 kilometres long between Tienen and Tielt-Winge in Belgium. Riders like Lotto Soudal's Thi That Nguyen, Trek-Segafredo's Ruth Winder and Movistar's Malgorzta Jasinska were the stars of some of the escapes of the first part of the race.

With a bit more than 40 kilometres to go, Franziska Koch (Mexx-Watersley International) tried her luck and created a gap of more than one minute with the pack. At a bit more than 22 kilometres to go, the rider was caught by the peloton.

More attacks followed by riders like Movistar's Aude Biannic, Sunweb's Susanne Andersen and Liane Lippert but they were all neutralised by a strong pack. Trek-Segafredo's Ellen van Dijk set the pace in the last kilometres to protect the position of the sprinter Lotta Lepistö for the final.

European Champion Marta Bastianelli (Virtu Cycling) showed to have the best legs in the last metres and crossed the finish line ahead of Lepistö and Sunweb's Floortje Mackaij.
