Belgian rider Tosh Van der Sande has been suspended by Lotto Soudal due to a positive doping test result took on a sample last November.

Lotto Soudal was notified by Van der Sande about a positive doping test on a sample taken during the Six Days of Ghent, which took place between the 12th and the 18th of November of 2018.

The rider's sample gave a positive result on a substance that is permitted and that is part of the nasal spray Sofrasolone, which is used for rhinitis, sinusitis and nose congestion. This spray is available freely and it is allowed to be used in competition if the rider mentions it during the control.

"After a meeting with the rider, the Board has decided to suspend the rider, in expectation of the investigation executed by the UCI and to allow the rider to underpin his defence in the best possible way," said Lotto Soudal in a press release.
