World Champion Alejandro Valverde will ride the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España in 2019 while Mikel Landa is set to do the Giro-Tour de France double.

Movistar presented its men's and women's 2019 teams in Madrid and there it was announced the calendar for the most important riders of the squad. Quintana will ride the Tour and the Vuelta, while Landa will appear at the Giro and Tour, and Valverde at the Giro and Vuelta, putting an end to the 'trident' that was tried at the 2018 season.

The World Champion wants mostly to enjoy this season in the rainbow jersey. "I am very happy and I very much look forward to wearing the entire year the special jersey," he commented at Movistar's presentation. "This is really nice and I want to enjoy it.

"I chose these races to vary a bit, there's no other reason behind it. The Giro won't be as tough as this year's but it won't be easy either. If I have health and everything turns out fine, surely I can win some races. I want to achieve great victories and that the team can win a grand tour."

Landa looks forward to returning to the Giro d'Italia, a race in which he has won three stages in 2015 and 2017 and where he finished in the podium position in 2015. "I have very good memories," he commented to Spanish newspaper Marca.

"It is a race that has given me everything and to come back with options to fight for the general classification and with the whole support of the team is wonderful."
