Team Sky has announced the signing of Filippo Ganna. The Italian rider makes the move after spending the last three seasons at UAE Team Emirates.

Ganna made a jump to the WorldTour with the then Lampre-Merida and after three years in the team that is currently known as UAE Team Emirates, he has decided to sign with the British formation. The Italian is also a track rider that has brought his talents to the road and that was helped him to take the victory at the U23 Paris-Roubaix and the top-five stage positions in races like the Vuelta a San Juan and the Tour of California, among others.

"It’s a dream to sign for Team Sky," Ganna commented. "It’s a very impressive team and everyone in cycling is used to seeing them winning the big races. For me, it’s fantastic to move to a team like this and I hope I can continue to develop and improve on my first two years on the road. I’m excited to meet up with the team for the first training camp and to start to work together.

"The team is really impressive in how they approach time trials and team time trials and that is an area I feel I can develop, in addition to the one-day races and one-week stage races going forward. In 2018 I started to experience the Classics races as a pro for the first time and that is another area I would like to learn and focus on, to one day be able to compete at the front of those races."
