Cervelo Bigla Pro Cycling has announced the contract extension of Emma Norsgaard Jorgensen. The rider became a professional with the team in the 2018 season.

The 19-year old rider has had a good season with results like the second place at the Danish national road race and at the prologue of the Giro della Toscana. She also took the fourth place at the last edition of the GP Bruno Beghelli.

"I extended with the team because I feel so great here with the people who are surrounding me at the team," said Norsgaard Jorgensen. "They’ve given me the opportunity to develop myself as a rider. This is the place I want to be. I feel trust here and have the full support. I don’t see myself anywhere else except Cervélo Bigla.

"This season was a tough start for me. It’s hard to go from junior to the elite level but I can see the progress I’ve made. My form and race results are improving, and I hope for something great next year. The team has had such success in developing athletes and I hope to be one of the new fast sprinters as I’m learning so much all the time."

Team Manager Thomas Campana thinks the rider can keep developing her talents at Cervelo Bigla. "When we scouted Emma, we knew about the potential she has," he explained. "This season was all about adapting to this level of racing with no pressure on her shoulders.

"Already we can see in the second part of the season that she’s getting comfortable in the final and getting a feel for the sprints at this level. Our team is all about sustainable step by step development and we think 2019 will be a great year for Emma."
