Team Sunweb's Soren Kragh Andersen has won the 112th edition of Paris-Tours. The Dane launched a late attack and crossed the finish line on his own ahead of Niki Terpstra and Benoit Cosnefroy.

The race between Chartres and Tours was 214.5 kilometres and featured a hilly profile in its last 60 kilometres. The day started with an escape group of six riders that included names like Sylvain Chavanel (in his last race as a professional rider), Bernhard Eisel and Brian van Goethem, among others, and with 85 kilometres to go, they were joined by Alex Dowsett, Johan Le Bon and Tom Devriendt.

At 50 kilometres to go and after the first vineyard track, Dries De Bondt and Devriendt took the lead of the race. But their adventure didn't last long as they were caught by the peloton at around 35 kilometres to go and soon after that Sunweb's Soren Kragh Andersen managed to break free.

The Dane was soon joined by Quick-Step Floors' Niki Terpstra and 25 kilometres to go, Benoit Cosnefroy (AG2R La Mondiale) also got to the front. The trio continued together for a few kilometres and with 10 kilometres remaining, Kragh Andersen attacked and the other two couldn't stay at his wheel.

The rider of Sunweb arrived to the finish line on his own and took the victory one year after he finished the race in the second place. Terpstra and Cosnefroy battled in a tense sprint for the second position and the Dutchman was the strongest at his last competition in the Quick-Step colours.

"These were really awesome parcours," said Kragh Andersen after the finish line. "I loved it. I almost can't believe it, I'm so happy. It was a super hard last 10km, but was worth it. This is crazy."
