New team Roompot-Charles Cycling has announced the signings of Boy van Poppel and Maurits Lammertink. Van Poppel makes the move after five years in Trek-Segafredo and Lammertink does it after spending the last two seasons in Katusha-Alpecin.

Van Poppel has been at the service of other sprinters and captains at Trek-Segafredo and wants some chances for his own. "That is indeed the intention," said the Dutchman. "In the last years, I have been fully at the service of captains. Occasionally I got the chance to sprint myself but it always takes some time to get used to. I'm looking forward to fighting for myself again."

The rider will work again with his father, Jean-Paul van Poppel, who is a sports director at the team. "I have already worked with him in 2013 at Vacansoleil," commented the rider. Of course, we know each other very well and it will work well.

"Who knows, maybe he can give me tips. He has done that in the past few years. Whenever I have a question, I call him and he is always there for me. If you need your father, then you will trust his advice, naturally."

Lammertink will return to the team, in which he was for two seasons before moving to Katusha-Alpecin. "I joined the team just when it had been established," remembered the Dutchman. "The first year was already nice and I was able to ride on a nice program. The second year it got even better for me. We had a very nice month of August with a win at the Tour of Norway and the final victory at the Tour of Luxembourg."

It was Lammertink who took the first victory ever for the team, the fourth stage at the Tour du Limousin in 2015, and in this new chapter, he was to keep gathering wins with it. "I just want to ride the races that I am best at like the Tour of Luxembourg, Dunkirk, Norway and Belgium," he explained.

"I want to achieve results with Roompot-Charles. We certainly have to keep trying to ride WorldTour races, but we can also be strong at those outside."
