One month after announcing that it would become a women's team, ONE Pro Cycling has completely abandoned the project.

The team had already announced that it was dropping the men's continental team for 2019 to focus on the creation of a women's team. But this project is not working out for it either and the idea has also been abandoned.

"ONE Pro Cycling is sadly forced to announce that we will not be able to run a UCI cycling team for the 2019 season," the team commented in a press release. "The team was committed to putting together a woman’s UCI squad for next season but due to lack of sponsorship we have not been able to raise a satisfactory budget to match our aims."

The team expects to pick up back this project in 2020 and use 2019 to continue conversations and try to get more sponsors.

"ONE Pro Cycling would like to thank all members, fans, partners and staff for their support," the release continued. "We set out with a hugely ambitious plan and are very proud of everything we have achieved over the past four years."
