Team Sunweb's Coryn Rivera has taken the victory at the road race of the US Championships. The rider was the fastest at the reduced sprint in Knoxville.

The race was through a 114.7-kilometre route divided in nine laps of 12.7 kilometres. Throughout the entire race, there were several breakaway attempts that were sooner or later reeled back in by a very motivated peloton. The several climbs on the Sherrod road diminished the pack and it came together for a reduced sprint.

Rivera outsprinted Boels-Dolmans' Megan Guarnier and Rally Cycling's Emma White to take the stars and stripes jersey. "This was a race of attrition and patience and the win means the world to me," said the rider at the end of the race. "I had a teammate here which made the biggest difference.

"At the end of the day this is a team sport and I couldn't have done this on my own. I'm absolutely ecstatic; it's been a long time coming and I'm really happy to take the win now. After all of the hard work that I and Ruth (Winder) put in through the race, it's great that I could finish it off."
