Alejandro Valverde will not ride the Tour de Suisse with Nairo Quintana and Mikel Landa. Different to earlier reports, the Spaniard has chosen a different approach.

Movistar had initially reported that the three leaders would appear at the Tour de Suisse together. Landa and Quintana are still confirmed to take part, but Valverde has reportedly opted to ride the Route d’Occitanie instead.

For Quintana, this is his first appearance at the Tour de Suisse. In previous years, he generally skipped the typical preparation races for the Tour de France except for 2012 when he rode the Criterium du Dauphine.

Landa will also be making his first appearance at the Swiss race, where he will look to confirm his abilities as a leader for Movistar ahead of the year's biggest challenge; the Tour de France.

The complete Movistar line-up for the Tour de Suisse (June 9-17):

Andrey Amador
Daniele Bennati
Victor De la Parte
Mikel Landa
Nelson Oliveira
Nairo Quintana
Jose Joaquin Rojas
