Mitchelton-Scott has won the Sprint event on the second day of the Hammer Series Limburg. The Australian team tops the points classification thanks to a good team performance and the strong sprints of Caleb Ewan.

The second event of the Hammer Series Limburg was the Sprint, with the teams doing eight laps on a 12.4-kilometre circuit following the same format of the day before in which the 10 first riders take points every lap and could double the points in the second, fifth and eighth lap.

Riders like Yves Lampaert (Quick-Step Floors), Danny van Poppel (LottoNL-Jumbo), Matteo Pelucchi (Bora-hansgrohe), Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain-Merida), Caleb Ewan (Mitchelton-Scott) and Lasse Norman Hansen (Aqua Blue Sport) took the victories of the laps ahead of the last kilometres of racing.

Hansen was part of a two-man breakaway with Matti Breschel (EF Education First) in the penultimate lap and continued on his own in the last 12 kilometres. The Aqua Blue Sport rider almost seemed to be caught in the last metres, but he got a second wind and crossed the finish line on his own. Ewan took the second place in the last sprint and put Mitchelton-Scott on top of the points standings, giving them the victory of the day.

Quick-Step Floors and LottoNL-Jumbo were second and third on the second day of the Hammer Series.
