Bahrain-Merida has won on the first event of the Hammer Series Limburg. The team beat Lotto-Soudal and Quick-Step Floors on a wet and foggy day.

The Hammer Climb took place over 11 laps on a 7-kilometre circuit that featured two short climbs and at the end of every lap, the first ten riders would gather points. The team that gathered the most points at the end of the day was Bahrain-Merida.

Lotto-Soudal was the first team to start collecting the most points with Tim Wellens and Bjorg Lambrecht crossing the finish line in early positions. But they couldn't compete with the Middle-Eastern team, for which Sonny Colbrelli won the third and the fifth lap.

His teammate Mark Padun went into a two-man breakaway during the climb of the sixth lap and he scored the maximum points at all the other laps, sending his team right to the top part of the classifications.

"It was a big pleasure to be in this race," said Padun at the end of the race. "I was really impressed with the riders being introduced at sign-on. It’s something amazing, I didn’t feel good legs at the start because it's around 40 days since my last race, but in the second part of the race, I was able to ride with a lot of power. I’m really satisfied with this race."
