Amy Pieters (Boels-Dolmans) has won the third stage of the Emakumeen XXXI. Bira. The rider was faster at the finish line than Emilia Fahlin and Clara Koppenburg.

The third day of the Spanish race took the riders through a 114.5-kilometre route starting and finishing in Aretxabaleta and featuring two climbs of the second category and one of the third.

There were several attempts of an escape in the first part of the race but the climbs reduced the size of the peloton. On the ascent of the Arlaban a group of around 20 riders took the lead and grew by 20 more on the descent.

Riders like Pauliena Rooijakkers (WaowDeals), Ane Santesteban (Cipollini), Amy Pieters (Boels-Dolmans) and Georgia Williams (Mitchelton-Scott) were part of this front group. With 31 kilometres to go, Rooijakkers attacked and went away on her own, creating a gap of more than one minute with the reduced pack.

At 23 kilometres from the finish line Lotto Soudal's Demi de Jong joined the Dutchwoman in the front and the two of them rode together for some kilometres, but Rooijakkers was stronger and went solo again. She was caught with five kilometres to go and the group rode together in the last stretch.

Boels-Dolmans' Amy Pieters won the final group sprint. Fahlin (Wiggle High5) and Koppenburg (Cervelo-Bigla) were second and third on the day.
