Six Italian riders have gone to Austria to do recon rides on the route for the 2018 World Championships in Innsbruck. Elisa Longo Borghini (Wiggle High5) will likely captain the selection at the competition.

After some of the Italian men's team, including Vincenzo Nibali and Fabio Aru, did the reconnoitring on the terrain of the upcoming World Championships, it was now the turn of the women.

The women's team, directed by Edoardo Salvoldi and Paolo Sangalli, will be led by the Italian champion. She will be joined by Sofia Bertizzolo (Astana), Elena Cecchini (Canyon/Sram), Vittoria Guazzini (Zhiraf Guerciotti Selle Italy), Tatiana Guderzo (Hitec Products) and Soraya Paladin (Ale Cipollini).

The team will do recon rides in Innsbruck for two days. The women's race of the World Championships will be 150.6 kilometres long and will take the riders through several climbs that complete an elevation gain of 2413 metres and will take place on the 29th of September.
