Quick-Step Floors boss Patrick Lefevere accepted that his team failed to finish on the podium at the Amstel Gold Race but criticized the behaviour of the motor riders at recent races.

'The Boss' discussed the Amstel Gold Race with Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws. "Julian (Alaphilippe) was good, but got cut off by Alejandro Valverde. Sagan played his usual game. I'm sure he's complaining now because he easily won the sprint for fourth place," he said.

Lefevere feels that the way the motor riders conduct themselves in the race is having too much of an effect on the progression of the races.

"I'm not making excuses, but what the TV motorbikes are doing lately, is truly scandalous. They decide the race. With a gap of 20 seconds they should be behind the leaders, not ahead of them. This has been bothering me a while. I think I'll e-mail UCI chairman David Lappartient about it, with the president of Belgian Cycling Tom van Damme in CC.

"They better study the images thoroughly. It's unheard of," he concluded.
