Dimension-Data will aim to improve from last year's fourth position in the Amstel Gold Race. The team will have several options to fight at the end of the day.

The African team starts in the Dutch race with a confident mood and a general good form. "From Sunday on we are starting a new kind of races, the Ardennes Classics which are completely different from the races that we had before, the Cobblestones Classics," said Sports Director JP Heynderickx.

"First one is Amstel Gold which is a very hard one with 35 climbs or so in it. Knowledge of the parcours is very important, which is why we did a recon on Friday of the last 70km of the race."

The race will feature 30 short and sharp climbs, as well as a new final that will make it interesting. "We have a couple of riders who know the parcours in Tom-Jelte Slagter and Serge Pauwels. The latter last week was in really good condition and he’s ready to put in a big performance in the coming weeks," the director added.

Complete roster of Dimension-Dara for the Amstel Gold Race (15th of April):

Tom-Jelte Slagter
Serge Pauwels
Ben King
Jaco Venter
Johann van Zyl
Scott Davies
Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier
