Andrey Amador has won the Klasika Primavera after attacking on the penultimate climb of the day, together with his teammate Alejandro Valverde.

The Movistar duo stayed away until the finish, where Valverde let Amador take his second professional victory since taking a stage in the Giro of 2012.

The task the riders were facing today was a 171,5 kilometre long race, with a flat run to a hilly finale. Peio Goikoetxea (Fundacion Euskadi), Jordan Arley Parra (Manzana Postobon), Artem Samolenkov (Lokosphinx) and Gonzalo Serrano (Caja Rural – Seguros RGA) were the four riders that formed the breakaway of the day and together they managed to get a maximum advantage of 3 minutes.

However, the break was caught even before the first climb, where Movistar set a strong pace that diminished the pack to about 20 riders.

On the penultimate climb of the day, the Muniketagane, Amador attacked. Shortly after, Valverde decided to join him and they reached the top of the climb holding a gap of 30 seconds. Together they made it to the finish in Amorebieta, where Amador was given the victory by his teammate. Movistar won their 13th victory of the season.
