Australian Heinrich Haussler will be Bahrain-Merida's leader for Paris-Roubaix, in an attempt to improve from his sixth place in 2016.

Haussler finished 25 at the Ronde van Vlaanderen but has shown in the past that he is capable of fighting for a top ten spot in the spring monuments.

"We have a very strong and motivated Heinrich Haussler who will be our leader," said sports director Tristan Hoffman. "Our riders will have a role of helping and protecting 'Heino', but we also wish to have one of our riders at the early morning break and to be there for 93 km for the entrance to the cobblestone sections and to fight to the Arenberg (162 km)."

This rider may well be Spaniard Ivan Garcia Cortina. The 22-year-old formed part of the early breakaway in the Ronde van Vlaanderen on Sunday and managed to hold on until late in the race.

The complete Bahrain-Merida line-up for Paris Roubaix (April 8th):

Borut Bozic
Luka Pibernik
Ivan Cortina
Heinrich Haussler
David Per
Meiyin Wang
Kristijan Koren
