In addition to the Giro d'Italia, Dutch cyclist Tom Dumoulin is also set to ride the Tour de France in 2018.

This was unveiled by sports director Aike Visbeek in a talk with podcast De Rode Lantaarn.

"At this moment the plan is clear," Visbeek said. "Tom will go for the classification in the Giro and he will also go to the Tour. Wilco (Kelderman) is going to the Tour and the Vuelta."

Whether Dumoulin will also ride for the classification in the Tour is currently unclear. In January, the 2017 Giro winner said that the Tour de France would be "harder and more difficult" to achieve the final victory in.

At the time, the rider said that the decision on whether to ride the Tour would depend on his performance in the Giro.
