David de la Cruz (Team Sky) has won the last stage of the Vuelta a Andalucia and Lotto-Soudal's Tim Wellens secured the overall victory of the race.

The last stage of the Spanish race was an Individual Time Trial of 14.2 kilometres starting and finishing in Barbate, Cadiz. Team Sky started the day off on the right foot with Dylan van Baarle setting the provisional best time at 17 minutes and 33 seconds.

Then came the new addition to the British team, David de la Cruz, who stopped the clock at 17 minutes and eleven seconds. Riders like Andrey Amador (Movistar), Stef Clement (LottoNL-Jumbo), Alexis Gougeard (AG2R La Mondiale) and Marc Soler (Movistar) set good times but nobody came close to De La Cruz.

Wellens, who showed great strength at the fourth stage of the race by taking the victory at an uphill cobbled finish, was eighth on the day and this result was good enough for him to take the victory in Spain, the first one of his season in a stage race.

Team Sky's Wout Poels finished second in the overall standings and Movistar's Marc Soler was third.
