UAE Team Emirates' Alexander Kristoff took the victory at the last stage of the Tour of Oman. Alexey Lutsenko (Astana) secured the overall win in the race.

The 135.5-kilometre stage in Oman was bound to finish in a bunch sprint. The day started with an escape of six riders that included Quick-Step Floors' Remi Cavagna, Wanty Groupe-Gobert's Xandro Meurisse and Rompoot-Nederlandse Loterij Pim Ligthart.

With ten kilometres to go, only Cavagna and Ligthart remained in front, but the Dutchman couldn't resist the pace of the Quick-Step Floors man. At three kilometres from the end, he was also caught by a peloton that was ready to face some fast last kilometres to put its sprinters in the best positions.

Like the last two years, Kristoff was the fastest at Matrah Corniche and crossed the finish line ahead of Vital Concept's Bryan Coquard and Trek-Segafredo's Giacomo Nizzolo.

Lutsenko arrived to the finish with the favourites' group and consolidated his victory. His teammate Miguel Angel Lopez stepped on the second step of the final podium and Gorka Izagirre (Bahrain-Merida) on the third.
