Strade Bianche grants wild card to Wout Van Aert's team and provides a duel of world champions

RCS Sport has decided to give an extra wild card to Veranda's Willems-Crelan, the team of the three-times CycloCross World Champion Wout Van Aert, for Strade Bianche.

The organiser of the Italian race wants a duel between the two three-times world champions Peter Sagan and Van Aert on Saturday, the 3rd of March, to make the race even more spectacular.

With this extra wild card, the number of participating teams will increase to 21, each with seven riders to complete a peloton of 147. The race has also announced the participation of last year's winner and former world champion Michal Kwiatkowski, as well as other riders like Greg Van Avermaet and Stefan Küng (BMC), Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida), Philippe Gilbert (Quick-Step Floors) and Edvald Boasson Hagen (Dimension Data), among others.

The original two wild cards for the event were granted to Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec and Nippo-Vini Fantini Europa Ovini.
