Mikel Landa is ready to make his debut with Movistar at the Vuelta a Andalucia. The rider will kick off a season in which he plans to go back to the Ardennes Classics after six years of absence.

The Spaniard will start his season with a new team being the leader at the Ruta del Sol. "For me, this is going to be a very special race," he said. "New colours, new ambitions. I'd like to have a good start so everything can be easy and we can start the year happy."

Landa already knows part of his calendar for the first part of the year and is already looking forward to some of the races. "After Andalucia, I will be in Tirreno-Adriatico in March and then in the Tour of the Basque Country, in which I hope to be in good form already," the rider commented.

"I would like to come back to the Ardennes Classics where I haven't started since 2012. Those are races in which I would like to start and learn about them next to Alejandro (Valverde). My intentions are to be in good shape for the Basque Country and the Ardennes."

The rider went to train with Movistar in Mallorca, where he got to see Valverde win on his come back after his crash at the 2017 Tour de France. "I trained some days with them and I got in the mood of competing and I'm looking forward to doing so in Andalucia," he affirmed.

"Alejandro's season start has been spectacular, particularly because he came back from a very serious injury. He had good feelings in training, but you always need the confirmation of facing your rivals to really see your shape. I was very happy for him."
