Remy di Gregorio of Delko Marseille Provence KTM has won the second stage of the Tour la Provence. Alexandre Geniez remains in the overall lead.

A group of five riders spent part of the stage ahead of the pack but was neutralized well ahead of the final phase. This allowed Roubaix-Lille Metropole rider Tom Dernies to try an attack with 35 kilometers to go, but he too was reeled in on the last climb of the day.

At the end of the 144.5km stage, which started in La Ciotat and finished at the top of the Col de l'Espigoulier near Gemenos, a group of 13 riders stayed together and Di Gregorio chose the right moment to initiate his final sprint. The Frenchman finished ahead of his compatriots Lilian Calmejane of Direct Energie and AG2R La Mondiale rider Tony Gallopin.

Prologue winner Geniez finished in seventh place and remains at the top of the general classification ahead of the final stage to Marseille.
