Marc Sarreau wins again in Etoile de Besseges

Marc Sarreau of FDJ has claimed his second stage victory in the Etoile de Besseges. The Frenchman had already won the opening stage, and was again the fastest in stage 3.

The stage started and finished in Besseges, featuring a course of 152 kilometers.

An early breakaway of six riders was caught with a bit under 60 kilometers left to go. Another attempt of a breakaway, with riders like Lilian Calmejane and Tony Gallopin was neutralized as well.

Romain Combaud of Delko Marseille-Provence KTM was next to give it a shot. The Frenchman was joined by Frederik Backaert of Wanty-Groupe Gobert and Dries van Gestel (Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise). The three gained an advantage but the race was a little bit too long for them as the peloton restored the balance in the final kilometer.

In the sprint, Sarreau once again proved to be in good shape and finished ahead of Thomas Boudat of Direct Energie and Samuel Dumoulin of AG2R La Mondiale.

Sarreau also leads the French race with an advantage of eight seconds over Boudat.
