Quick-Step Floors' Fernando Gaviria has suffered hard hits to his left side in a crash during the fourth stage of the Vuelta a San Juan.

With around 30 kilometres to go, the Colombian got involved in a crash that took him out of the Argentinean race. Manuel Belletti and Ricardo Escuela also hit the deck in the same place and had to withdraw as well.

"It doesn't look too serious but Fernando suffered hard hits to the shoulder, knee and wrist of the left side," said a source of Quick-Step to Spanish news agency EFE. "He will be taken to the hospital of San Juan to undertake some tests that will rule out any important injuries."

Gaviria had already won the first stage of the race and had the intention of taking a new victory in the fourth stage, which was set to finish in a bunch sprint. His teammate, Max Richeze replaced him as the main man for the final meters and scored the second victory for the team in the Argentinean race.
