The UCI has added another four years to the suspension of German cyclist Patrik Sinkewitz, taking the total length to no less than 12 years.

Sinkewitz was caught using human growth hormone (HGH) in 2011 and was suspended for eight years.

Despite his ban, the 37-year-old took part in an amateur race in Italy in July of this year. German anti-doping authority NADA reported this to the UCI, which as a result decided to extend the punishment.

Sinkewitz is now banned until August 16 of 2024. He will be 43 years old by that time, making a return to professional cycling practically impossible.
