Tom Dumoulin has been chosen as best cyclist of the Netherlands for the fourth time in a row. The Giro d'Italia champion beat riders like Wilco Kelderman and Dylan Groenewegen to lift the trophy.

Other nominees included Bauke Mollema, Sebastian Langeveld and Mathieu van der Poel.

In May, the Sunweb rider became the first Dutchman ever to win the Italian grand tour after moving from fourth to first place with a stellar performance in the closing time trial in Milano. In the process, the Butterfly of Maastricht also won two stages.

Four months later, Dumoulin again peaked at the right moment to take home Gold at the World Time Trial Championships in Bergen, Norway.

Annemiek van Vleuten of Orica-Scott won the trophy for best female, after a season in which she won the World Time Trial Championships as well as La Course by le Tour de France and the Boels Rental Ladies Tour.
