Vicenza asks Italian Government to support candidature for 2020 World Championships

The city of Vicenza has asked the government of Italy to support the organisation of the Road World Championships of 2020.

The president of the Veneto Region Luca Zaia has sent a letter to the minister of Sports Luca Lotti, asking to create a team to support the organisation of the Championships of 2020, which has been informally conceded to this Italian city.

"This assignment can only be formalised upon submission of an agreement with the Government that includes all the conditions related to the event, from organisational and advertising aspects, to the costs incurred by the event, including attestation of interest of the highest levels of the Public Administration of the host country," reads the letter.

Zaia also mentioned that the regional government is completely supportive of this event. "The Region has already expressed its utmost interest in supporting the Championships, but the scope of the event is such that it requires the involvement of all the Italian institutions," the note continues.

"The Veneto Region is ready to adhere to what can be done to achieve the candidature."
