FABIAN CANCELLARA
PHILLIP GAIMON

Former rider Fabian Cancellara wants to settle the animosity with Phil Gaimon in a battle on a bike.

The American former rider revived the controversy of Cancellara's alleged use of mechanical doping by mentioning it in his autobiography. Just days after Gaimon's book extracts about the Swiss hit the media, the lawyers of the winner of Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders asked for it to be taken off the shelves and requested an apology.

Even though Gaimon insists that he only stated his opinion in the book, the situation has not been fixed. Now, Cancellara comes with an unusual request. He has invited the American to attend one of his events in 2018 where he will be able to show him how he rides the bike without a motor.

Through a Twitter message, the Swiss Olympic champion extends the invitation to Gaimon. "Hi Phil Gaimon, I actually don't know you but I kindly invite you to beat me at one of my eight Chasing Cancellara races, by next year 2018 (sic)" says the message.

"You choose the date out of five countries. I am very curious to see how much watts you can push! Start training!" The tweet finished with the hashtag #nomotorneeded.

The American former rider hasn't yet given an answer to this invitation.
